QR Code Best Practices

A well-designed QR Code is scannable, engaging and professional. Follow these best practices to get the most out of every code you create.

1. Test before printing

Always scan your QR Code on multiple devices (iOS and Android) before printing. What works on one phone may fail on another.

2. Use high contrast

Dark foreground on light background is the most reliable. Black on white is ideal. Avoid low-contrast colours.

3. Include a call to action

Add text like 'Scan to view menu' or 'Scan for 10% off' near the code. People are more likely to scan when they know what to expect.

4. Leave a quiet zone

Maintain a white border of at least 4 modules around the code. Don't crowd it with text or graphics.

5. Choose the right size

Follow the 10:1 rule — scanning distance should be 10× the code width. For a 1 m scanning distance, use at least 10 cm.

6. Use dynamic codes for campaigns

Dynamic QR Codes let you change the destination and track scans. Essential for marketing campaigns where you need analytics.
