Billboard QR Code

Billboard QR Codes are large-format codes designed to be scanned from a distance — cars, buses or pedestrians on the opposite side of the street.

Sizing for distance

Follow the 10:1 rule. For a 10 metre scanning distance, the code should be at least 1 metre wide. For 20 metres, use 2 metres.

High error correction

Use error correction level H (30% recovery) for billboards. Environmental factors like weather, dirt and lighting can partially obscure the code.

Simple content

Keep the linked URL short and simple. Complex URLs create denser codes that are harder to scan at distance.
